If you live in Baltimore and go to shows, you have seen Micah Wood. He’s a lover of Baltimore music and an avid 6×7 medium format photographer. Micah compiled a book of his portraits called Features, which included Dan Deacon, Abdu Ali, and TT The Artist which The City Paper named as the Best Photo Book last year.
Micah also creates music that is described as “bleak electro-pop.” ‘Without You,’ the first single off Micah’s new album, See Me is due out Sept. 22. It’s a post-breakup anthem about being better off without a toxic relationship. And the song’s anthemic chorus is aided by the “Without You Choir,” featuring Dyyo Faccina, Gusher, :3lON, Alienood 420, and Christopher J. Chester.
With the Casios, synths, drum machines, and the baritone voice of Micah, the album nods to Calvin Johnson in a much more accessible execution with tinges of Joy Division if they made R&B music.
See Me also features other Baltimore artists such as Joy Postell, 83 Cutlass, Eyas, Al Rogers Jr., and JPEGMAFIA.
